The cave is only open for guided tours. You must book a visit online. To find out more

The reception, museum area and shop are open

From June 1 to September 30 

9.30 am - 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm - 6.30 pm

From October 1 to May 31

9.30 am - 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm - 5.30 pm

Closed on Mondays, January 1, May 1 and December 25.

  • Any person coming with a tourism professional, with no minimum number of people

Prepare your visit

  • The tour is only open to children aged 7 and over.
  • You must arrive 10 minutes early.
  • The temperature inside the cave is 11°C in winter and 16°C in summer.
  • Large bags and backpacks are not permitted.
  • Photos and videos are not permitted in the cave.

By car

From Bordeaux, Toulouse or Poitiers: A10, exit at St-André-de-Cubzac, then head for Bourg on the D669, Prignac et Marcamps.

By train

St-André-de-Cubzac station

By bike (Label accueil vélo)

The cave is located near the “Canal des deux mers à vélo” (Two Seas Canal by bike). 

From Bordeaux, turn right at the exit of the village of Prignac et Marcamps, onto the D133.

From Blaye, turn left at the entrance to the village of Prignac et Marcamps, onto the D133.

Services and visiting conditions

  • Free access to the museum
  • Animals are not allowed.
  • The cave is not accessible to wheelchairs. The cave is reached by about thirty steps.
  • Very static visit, 50 minutes standing with no opportunity to sit down.
